As a raging fashion enthusiast, I have always viewed clothing as a form of art that is crafted by creative contemporaries to translate seamstressing and sewing into masterpieces. It helps people express themselves in ways that they cannot put into words, a form of freedom where they can choose how the world sees them. Most importantly, fashion gives people confidence, and the production of these garments is essential to making the fabric of society diverse and vibrantly artistic. But then again, arbitrary production by the textile industry causes more harm to the environment than one could think and, in turn, to us. However, minimalism in clothing as the solution to the environmental crises prevailing in the world always seemed like giving up gold for copper to make the world safer. As crucial as these measures are, safer could mean boring, and that is where we can save the world from lacklustre fashion that simply serves the purpose of clothing with no flair, poise, or purpose. Sustainability can sometimes get inconvenient and overcomplicated, which hinders progress across many industries, but working through it and innovating technology to make it seamless and efficient is something that benefits the whole world and paves the way for a better future to alleviate the burden on brands by providing a much more efficient way to track their carbon footprint. In my opinion, this enables them to make the changes needed in their production practices to keep creating pieces that inspire and influence without damaging the world that we live in or its future, saving the world one outfit at a time.
